Refusing to let some traditions die

Finishing up a karaoke session by gathering up stuff while singing Konayuki.

Awesome and now my voice is raw.

This is Bimnmyo----

It's not *bad* but I'm just not really sure *what* to think.

Ah-ha! It has roasted corn in it! That's the flavor that had me thinking.

Hmm. I still prefer hot 爽健美茶

Wiped out.

Did some stuff. Went to Meijo Park. Ate tororo kishimen. On my way home. TIRED!

And sleepy. Going to try tnj take a nap before heading out for karaoke.

Suckiness

It's my day off and instead of making the most of it, I slept in and all I can think of doing is sleeping more.

Bah!

Screw that! I'm waking up!

Yellow!

The ginko tree in front of the Castle Plaza is this gorgeous yellow.

Me thinks tomorrow maybe a walk day. Maybe my last chance to catch the fall foliage.

Morning set D at Fujiya 480yen

Soup, salad, yogurt, bread, and coffee.

The yogurt had strawberries AND banana! Rock!

"She's naked on the cover again, isn't she?"

Finish Suspect X. It was awesome.

Now back to feed my Castle obssesion. Although considering the stares I got on the train from just reading an English book, maybe I should consider removing the dustjacket of Naked Heat...

Yesterday, the salaryman next to me started was reading an intermediate English textbook. I couldn't bring myself to pull out Galileo. My outer appearance being what it is, it totally would have looked like I was rubbing English superiority in his face. Especially since it was right after a Japanese coworker told another one who was surprised at my Japanese, "It's better not to think of her as an American; you'll get confused."

Such is life. Onto Castle!

Yep. It's now just plain DARK!

But my plan worked! I set my heater to turn on at 3am and my first alarm to go off at 4am resulting in me being awake and relatively warm at 5am. Excessive? Yes. But effective. My initial state of denial is the same at 4 and 430. But having an extra 30min to roll around and mope does wonders for my mood.

Tree!

X'mas is on it's way but I've been more concerned with the COLD!

Still, it *is* pretty.

Lack of cash

Or rather an influx of necessary expenses.

My commuter pass expired so I had to get a new one. Expensive but nowhere near the cost of riding the train without it. Also added Nagoya to the pass, saving me an additional amount of over the equivalent of $200 over 6 months.

Meh.

In other news, I forgot Galileo at home. I only have 20ish pages left! The most emotional part so I guess I may as well finish it at home.

Also, feeling not so hot after waking up from a nightmare. Won't go into details, but it sucked.

Alrighties, going to listen to some Masha to lift my spirits.

Galileo!

Thanks to the awesomeness that is my mom, I'm now reading the English translation of the first Keigo Higashino Galileo novel.

So far, it's a good read. Plus it doesn't make me feel like I'm reading a translation. Totally plan on recommending it to my high level people.

I hope they do the first two short story collections and the rest of the series too.

And to anyone who has seen the Masha TV series:
There's a lot that's different. Number one being Yukawa's partner is Kusanagi, Kaoru's sempai in the TV series. Kaoru supposedly makes her appearance from the third short story collection. Still need to read that. (Also in the third novel, I've heard there is a Bones reference. Rock!)

I would write more but my thumb is getting sore...

11/22 QotD

But while being an actor, as I read a script, there are times when I don't take the basic steps like wondering, "If I were a cook at the South Pole..." Sometimes.
-Masato Sakai

11.23 QotD

An acquaintance of a father told me about something he experienced...
During an important meeting when an OL asked people in turn, "Would you like something to drink?"
While others made various orders, "coffee" "I'll have tea"
he said "Dada'll have coffee".
Even if he's called Papa at home...Dada?
-「言いまつがい」

Hmm, will have to work on this one.

Only obssesed Castle fans will get this

Playing with my DS...

COLD! has now joined its friend, DARK!

For the first time this winter, I stayed under my covers for the sole purpose of staying warm for a few more minutes.

Random observation: there are more people on the 5:56 train than the 6:06 train.

Yeah, that's all I got today.

Rainbow!

I've got a great view from my window. It's a pretty bright one.

11.21 QotD

I believe the first thing is「to feel」. And in order 「to feel」 properly, one would do well to watch talented actors; you naturally feel for them. In that sense, I believe it is best to watch 「the real thing」 from the start.
New actors are doing their best so「Kabuki appreciation class」 has appeal in its own right, but in the end I must recommend 「from real, legitimate」.
-堀越一寿 from 「大向こうの堀越さん。」

Will check names when later.

Morning @ Mozart

So sleepy!!

Cold

Left my gloves at home. But! I have my earmuffs!

Today's a bit of a busy day, but at least I'm getting home at a decent hour.

11/20 Hobonichi Quote of the Day

「Acquiring a skill」, I feel, can be expressed by the formula, 「a little hard work × frequent consistency × every day × months and years = habit」
-from 「Today's darling」

Starting something new. I've fallen out of translation for a bit so I thought I'd pick it up again.

My planner has quotes at the bottom of each day. Quotables tend to be short and use everyday language which make them deceptively difficult. I'm up for a challenge.

30 days. I'll do everything I can to translate the daily quote for 30 days. If it works, I'll keep going. I bought the same planner for next year months ago.

Feel free to question and critique. Like vlogging every day, this is quantity over quality. Though I must admit, fantastic quote to start off. I swear, it's pure coincidence. Sign from the universe.

Delays...

In subways, in plans, in life.

Yeah, I'm in one of *those* moods.

I need to watch something epic. Kill shot is Monday, but I need something to hold me over.

Got Fringe tonight, but as much as I love Peter Bishop, still not enough. Maybe I need the Hero of Canton. Because just flying ain't much, but it's enough. Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me. Big damn heroes aiming to misbehave.

Shiny.

Wha...?

Glad I wasn't here when this happened. Not even sure when it happened.

As you migit see, it's raining today. It's days like this that I hate going to work. I want to stay home next to the window and listen to the rain.

DARK! o'clock

Amazing the difference a few days make.

It is now nighttime when I leave for work and it proves I *am* a night owl. I'm totally more willing to deal with the morning shift now than I was about a month ago when it was just a bit light and I was whining about how dark it was getting. Now, it's like, "Bring it."

Also realized that with the cold air and lack of people, I can hear the subway approach and leave the station before mine. It's kinda cool. Its roar grows as nears my station and when it turns the corner, its lights reflect off the tunnel walls and grow brighter like the coming dawn. (Am listening to DOES, doa and the Umineko OP right now. My MP3 player always did have awesome random song order. And now it's Mori Shinichi! Sweet! The 2003 Kohaku performance of this song was epic.)

Parfait party!

Sweet.

Tokoname

Did some glass work. It was cool! And hot. And I was too busy to take keitai pics.

To the New World!

Well, technically they're not in the New World yet. But I like the design and the logo.

Had to buy it. I wonder if they'll have T-shirts of this in the JUMP store.

Meieki

Haven't been on this platform since a really long time. To Kanayama!

And I'm off!

While both my head and heart were set on Moneyball, my body had other plans and I slept until about 10:30. The movie just came out, it stars Brad Pitt and this is Japan; I still have time.

So now I'm off to Meikei to buy tix for tomorrow's movie. And then to Tokoname to play with molten glass. Then back to the house for parfaits!!!

I have plans to post a vlog and have started filming clips, but yeah, that means I need to edit them together, so who knows when it will go up.

Oh yeah, and Boston folk might recognize the pom-poms in the pic. The white hat is back!

Fooood

Sleeeeeep.

Tomorrow is Moneyball, glassblowing, and parfaits.

Thursday is laundry and Source Code. Nothing else just yet, but there's always something.

Sleeep.

Almost dropped my phone in the subway...

Sleep!

How I survive Castle withdrawl

I plan a lesson teaching relationship phrases using the names Rick and Kate.

It ends with "Rick and Kate are a match made in heaven."

OMG you can't even see my toast!

Until the flash anyways...

DARK!

It feels like night time, especially with the clouds hiding the breaking dawn. Kinda weird knowing the sky is going to be completely different when I get out of the Sakae underground.

Another late night. Considering my plans for Wednesday (Moneyball, Tokoname, parfait party), I think I'll be crashing on Thursday and sleeping whether I want to or not.

Morning @ Komeda

Cats opens at 10 so I decided to brave the hill and go to Komeda instead.

The toast and egg come with the coffee. The salad is 200yen.

Despite the lack of service at this Komeda, mornings at Komeda have same kind of familiarity as a McD's and a Starbucks.

Here's to almost, but not, being late.

How is it that I can manage being ready to go and then fall asleep and wake up just in time to catch the last possible train to be on time?

All's well that ends well?

Having done this before, I knew I'd make it, but I'd really like to avoid ever doing it again.

So tired...
Going to Cats Cafe for breakfast. Need food. Want muffin.

The good and the bad

The Good: Got twice as much sleep as the night before.

The Bad: Since the night before was two hours, I've had a total of 6 hours of sleep in the last 24 hours.

The Ugly: Got a 7am tomorrow. AND there's no Castle this week! That's the biggest crime of all.

My eyes are burning.

But I am awake and my day is pretty full so right now it's just about survival.

Random thought of the morning, I'm scrapping the idea to go to Kyoto to fight the crowd. Going for some thing a bit more local. If I don't just pass out first.

Notice a few things

First: It's almost 4am. Yep, I have yet to sleep.

Second: My laptop is situated on my bed. Keyboard, mouse and all.

Third: I'm blogging this rather than just going to sleep.

4am: Good night/morning.

ONE PIECE FTW!

Had the most awesome lesson today. And all because I listed ONE PIECE on my profile. Rock!

In other news, the only thing in my stomch today so far are two-thirds of a chocolate danish and two cans of coffee. Couple that with two hours of sleep...

I'm running on caffeine and sugar. Oh, and Altoids. Which, btw, now contain blue food coloring after production moved from the UK to Tennesse.

I can't believe I haven't crashed yet.

Okay, home to work on the reason I got 2 hours of sleep. *sigh/moan*

Ooh! Fringe! *squee*

Bah!

Accidentally deleted my post. Oh well.

11.11.11-3

Was totally planning on blogging way more but then work happened.

Yeah I know, priorities.

Speaking of which...*sigh*
