Look who's got a kids lesson today!

I take too much enjoyment from this. :D

Another week begins

I'm hoping to go out and see sakura before they're gone, but sleep and movies are so much more appealing.

Turning Pages: 虚像の道化師 Galileo 7

Finished 真夏の方程式 over the weekend. Will post thoughts later. Before my feelings had a chance to settle, I dove into book 7. These are short stories and by their nature easier to read, not as layered, and nowhere near as emotionally draining as the novels.

The seventh book is still a good read. Good, classic murder mystery. A bit predictable, but I'm in it for the characters and the story behind the murder.

Can't wait for the series to start up in April. I know it won't live up to the first series and I'll miss Kaoru, but I'll trust the TV staff who created her in the first place.

Also, there is the meta enjoyment of Galileo is listening to Masha while reading Galileo.

Higashino may have originally based Yukawa on Sano Shiro, now he's totally using Fukuyama Masaharu i.e. the Yukawa from the drama as his muse.

I loved it when Higashino Keigo wrote that Kaoru was listening to a Fukuyama Masaharu album on the train in the fifth book.

I was reading a book while listening to the same artist as a character in the book who was introduced into the book series after being created for the TV drama based on the book series starring the artist.

Mmm, delicious meta.

Sunrise

This is one of my signs of spring: the morning sun shining down the street in front of the house.

Such a cliche

I took a sip and got whip cream on the tip of my nose. Meh.

Also?

Sleepy!!!

Just need to survive until 9...

Sakura

Can't tell from this pic, but the cherry blossoms down the sreet are beginning to bloom. Gotta check out the river soon.

At the theater: Oz The Great and Powerful

Closed my last three lessons so I could catch the 17:35 showing. Gotta watch when I have the chance.

I feel a bit bad that I didn't go to Taichi's movie today, but I'll catch it in two weeks or so.

Good morning

It's cold again.

Fingers!

My ears are toasty, though, thanks to my ear muffs.

I should wear my gloves.

Yeah, it's going to be an interesting week.

I have so much to say about tonight

So here's what happened:
- came back early from my grandmother's to go to a farewell party
- went to the bar that was posted in the break room on Monday
- no one was there but a bartender recognized me and directed me to the reserved area
- ordered food and a drink and sat down
- saw a coworker who then told me that he just heard the venue was changed last minute
- proceeded to wait with my coworker who was meeting a friend at the first bar
- stayed at the original venue and hung out with complete strangers
- had a blast
- decided to go home without going to the other bar
- now to pick up some more 爽健美茶, get back to the house, wash the stench of cigarretes out of my hair, and pull an all-nighter while finishing Galileo.
- all-in-all, not a bad night, no thanks to my other coworkers

Tuesday Morning!

Two more lessons and I'm free until Friday! Though I don't have the days off completely to myself, I'm looking forward to a bit of "me" time.

And reading Galileo.

Turning Pages: 真夏の方程式

Pieces of the puzzle suddenly fit together: Goosebumps.

Turning pages: 真夏の方程式

I got my hands on the next BACCANO! but I had already started the sixth Galileo book and this BACCANO! doesn't look like Firo is in it. So I'm taking my time and enjoying Galileo.

This is getting good. I can totally see how this could make a good movie. I so can't wait.

Going in knowing it's Galileo, I'm constantly scrounging for clues, wondering how it will all unfold. Part of the fun.

And Higashino Keigo plays by the mystery novel rules (at least in Galileo, I haven't read his other works) so the killer has been introduced already. I have the people I suspect and don't want it to be and the ones I want it to be because the ending would wrap up nicely, though they are probably a red herring.

Anyways, it's slow going because I only read on my commute for fear that should I pull it out at bedtime, I'll pull an all-nighter.

BACCANO! can wait for. And the longer I put it off, the shorter the wait for 1935-C.

Now to finish this chapter.

Is it just me, or do the clouds look ominous?

There's a wind blowing too.

I brought an umbrella with me, but I also am wearing ugg-like boots.

Hmmm.

To work!

Yep, sunrise is getting earlier.

And in the silence of the station before the train, I heard footsteps running overhead. That was kinda freaky.

Mexican Food tonight!

Like the title says.

Preparing for summer

i.e. Mel just bought 4 packages of strawberries to freeze and transform into strawberry daiquiris come summer.

Frozen strawberry daiquiris!

And strawberry lemonade! Though the lemons are going to cost me...

COLD! came back

Being in SoCal for as long as I was, I missed most of DARK! this year and COLD! was on its way out.

But today it came back to play.

Morning Adventures: TORELU's suped up morning menu

My weekend breakfast place added the options of drinks other than coffee and a variety of toppings. So cool. Still staying with my basic 250yen set, but I like the having the options.

Back to work

To be honest, I don't know if I'm okay. In fact, I know I'm not. But I'm functioning enough to fake it and that's gotta count for something, right?

Shortened my day today just because I can. Possibly because I need it. Probably because I need it. Because I need it.

The show must go on.

Once a climber...

Not that I climbed a lot or was even any good, but anyone who has tried climbing will understand how I looked up at this and thought, if I could get my footing just right, I could totally climb this.

Nevermind the fact that if I did climb this post, I'd be a cat in a tree and the fire department would have to come and help me down because there would be no way I'd get down on my own.

Never was good at bouldering...

Warm winter day

It's gloriously warm today. Loving it.

Finally heading back to Nagoya. Slightly reluctant, but that's because there are things to be done.

Turning Pages: ONE PIECE 69

Picked it up yesterday and read through it. Unfortunately, it's been a few months since the previous volume and this arc is dripping with multiple overarching elements so I need to reread Punk Hazard from the top to refresh my memory on what the hell is going on.

I will say this though, Zoro x Tashigi=AWESOME. So looking forward to how that pans out. I still think she's Kuina. Or somehow deeply connected. As my hair stylist said, Odacchi does nothing without reason.

In anycase, finished my first read-through. Now onto reading the chapter title page story and the SBS. I'll do my thorough read-through in Nagoya after a reread. As I told a client, who agreed with me whole-heartedly, the proper way to read a new volume of ONE PIECE is to read it three times: first lightly for the jist, then thoroughly for the details, and finally title page stories plus SBS. Read-throughs two and three can flip depending on the circumstances.

It's good to be a ONE PIECE fan.

Being productive

Decided to go upstairs and use my old desk (technically my uncle's desk). Get some sunlight and use some more space. Actually write. After a week here, I finally realized I brought the wrong papers...thank goodness for the cloud.

Now I have no excuse for lack of productivity. I'll convince myself it's a good thing sooner or later.
