Half the year is over?

2014 has been a quick one for me. Thankfully it hasn't been all that bad.

And that's all I have to say on this Monday morning.

Subtitled Goonies: And that's where you'll find what now?

If you ever needed proof The Goonies subtitles are half-assed...

I can't turn off the Japanese subtitles on this copy from iTunes, so sometimes I humor myself and read along, which leads to occasional face-palms. One of the biggest ones:

"Stretching feet
To the nearest North point
And that's where you'll find the...tree?"

Now, I admit it sounds like Mouth says "tree" and not "treat", but really?

Cultural references can be glossed over, but some of these...

Later on Chunck says "We've got to" and it's translated "I wanna go home".

This is why I tell clients to not use Japanese subtitles.

Fangirling: The Ambitious Japan bottle

Out of the four possible designs I could get on my bottle of tea, I got the Ambitious Japan train! Yay!

Now let's see if that's the song on my Shink.

Another early morning

Amazing what a little quality happy time can do for one's outlook on life.

After the wonder that is the Creators Market, I have the same amount of stuff to do, but rather than feeling pressured to find time for it, I'm eager to make time for the things I want to do.

So today is one lesson, then heading back to the house to rearrange my desk, write the podcast script, type up the radio script, write some letters and postcards, and write some blog posts.

It's going to be a good day.

Creators Market vol.30

After a morning and purikura, we're off to CreaMa!

Packed a special CreaMa bag with just the bare essentials.

Whee!

Purikura + Card-making

When two worlds collide.

Samancha is in town and we dropped by the purikura shop in Maruei, which was having a card-making event.

We spent almost two hour at that table. Good times.

A burger and The Goonies

Samancha is coming over this weekend for the Creators Market so I'm cleaning my room and just put in a reservation at a burger place near my station that has become a favorite of ours.

I needed to get food today anyways, so instead of just calling, I put a load of laundry into the wash, walked down to the burger place, put in the reservation, got a burger to go, picked up a coke at the supermarket, came back to the house, hung my wash up to dry, and now I'm taking a burger lunch break (so good!).

So, just cleaning my room gets boring and my already short attention span gets shorter, so I tend to pop a well-watched movie in and The Goonies is a classic. But my copy is Region 2 and my computer is American. I finally bit the bullet a few days ago and got it off iTunes (so expensive!).

So now I'm eating a burger and fries with a coke while watching The Goonies (so American). :)

To work!

I'm surprisingly awake (bracing for the inevitable crash) and out of the house early so I'm taking the long way to the station and enjoying the morning air.

And it's a fruitful walk. Found a new cafe to check out and some pretty hydrangeas.

Today's schedule consists of three lessons, then proofreading, editing and translating, and then cleaning. Also, picking up a shelf at the 100yen shop.

Turning Pages: ONE PIECE 74

Totally forgot to post this one. Bought it on the same day as the second Biblia volume last week.

In anycase, I admit it, I cried when I read the last chapter of this volume. That was seriously cruel. When I first read it, I was on the train and almost started sobbing. And the back cover...dude...

Now to reread some ONE PIECE.

Turning Pages: ビブリア古書堂の事件手帖3

Finished! Want the next one! The mysteries aren't that hard to figure out, but that's not the point. I love these characters and I really love Daisuke and Shioriko. So cute together. And they're still not together! Not that that is a surprise.

Gotta clean my room tomorrow, but if I get to the closet, I'm getting volume 4 for myself. Only two more until I'm caught up. What to read after that?

Actually, I haven't finished the Complete edition of Ghosthunt yet, so that's probably next.

At the theater: X-Men Days of Futures Past

There was enough time to catch the show, so I decided today would be a double feature day.

Whee!

At the theater: The Grand Budapest Hotel

Decided to watch it at a smaller local theater rather than the giant Toho down the way. It just felt right.

Looking forward to this. :D

Glorious weather

I need to learn to wake up early every day in the summer.

I know it's not going to be this nice in July and August, but it'll be better than the evenings.

Staying in Nagoya this week, despite it being my off week, to give my room a proper cleaning.

And to focus for the next few days, today I am watching a movie, maybe two, and painting my nails.

Also, just got on an earlier train and have proven to myself once again that the 5.56 is way more crowded than the 6.06. Bah!

And now to read more Biblia.

Turning Pages: ビブリア古書堂の事件手帖3

Couldn't resist.

I finished volume 2 last night and just had to know what happens next with these two.

Just have to make sure to sleep tonight.

Turning Pages:ビブリア古書堂の事件手帖2

Getting a few pages in before work. Honestly, I can't get enough of these two. So cute together! And they're not even together.

It's been a while since I squeed this much. So good!

And the fact this takes place in a used bookstore makes me even happier.

One of those days

I was so busy distracting myself from feeling miserable (headachey and slightly nauseous and a bit pissed off about work) on the train by commenting on Sorted Food's Facebook page that I missed my station.

Meh.

Japanese drinks: Brain Power

Just had to get it. It's not as bad as I was bracing myself for. But once was definitely enough.

Turning Pages: ビブリア古書堂の事件手帖

Finished! That was great! Wow. I found myself also completely duped by Shioriko. But everything fell into perfect place in the end. I can't wait to get the next four.

But this time I'm going to be good and just get Volume 2 tomorrow, not do my usual thing and buy the rest of the series. If I buy them all, I'll stay up all night tomorrow reading all of them.

So good!

So, so good!

Turning Pages:ビブリア古書堂の事件手帖

Dude! So good!

Screw sleep! Gonna finish this tonight so I can get the next one tomorrow!
